home sweet home
(for the next 3 years, that is!) here we are in the land of the big belt buckles, yeee-haaaaw! we love our neigbors already and are really enjoying the slower pace of a smaller city. being so much closer to family has already paid off. in fact, out of 7 (or is it 8) weeks of being here, we've only been to church (here) once due to either having company here or us being in oklahoma!
the big move
the transition begins
my dad flew out to help kevin drive the cars from AZ to TX. here's grandpa holding myah in billeting the last nite we were there. the next day, the guys got up and on the road early, as myah and i slept in a little longer, then flew into OKC where my mom picked us up. we three girls drove the two hours south to our new home and set up the air mattresses, etc while we waited on the guys to arrive. they made it in 14 hours, safely; thank you Lord! (ps even tho myah's SUCH a good baby, i NEVER want to fly by myself with her again! aaahhh!) thank you SO much, dad for driving a car for us!
the last picture, UGH!
my friend lisa, whose husband was another pilot in the fini-flight, was taking these pictures for me. but darn it! i didn't even think to check the status of the camera batteries...this is the last one she got before the camera up and died! ugh! we had kevin look over for this pix right before he jumped out and took off runinng. anyway, the other pilots got kevin pretty well soaked until he hid behind susan-with her baby in hand! :)
awaiting the craziness
kevin's fini-flight
as a part of every (flying) assignment, each pilot does a 'fini-flight' just before he/she moves. they are a lot of fun to watch-the pilot usually by-passes the ladder from the cockpit and jumps to the ground-then takes off...the whole squadron is out there waiting; sometimes with hoses, sometimes with fire extinguishers (filled with H2O), and sometimes even with the fire truck and their hoses! (this happened to kevin in korea; the truck was out there doing something else when he landed and the firemen agreed to hose him down!) either way, you know they're (the pilot) is going to be soaked! i've even seen a pilot get tackled by the other pilots, duct-taped and then soaked. anyway, even tho kevin still has 10 more years in the AF (yes, we are staying in), this could be his last F-16 assignment, YIKES! needless to say, he made sure to really enjoy this last sortie! (this is him, just coming to a stop-before the craziness begins!)
wiped out!
happy mother's day!
